Another week, another concert

This time it's the legendary pop genius Brian Wilson touring in support of his old/new album "SMiLE." He'll be stopping in Philadelphia in August to play the Mann Music Center which -- according to my parents -- is a fantastic place to see a show. Having already seen him perform a masterful concert at the TLA on South Street -- blessedly located next to Jim's Steaks -- I can easily say that I'm really looking forward to this performance.

Sweet!!

Congratulations to the Idaho House of Representatives for planting their tongues firmly in their cheeks with this bill.

Thanks to Off Wing Opinion.

Love him or hate him

It seems that some comments I made about a certain Phillies' right fielder on Shallow Center's Opening Day recap have led some others to voice their opinions as well.

And here I thought I'm a semi-intelligent fan who wants to see the players I spend money on perform up to their capabilites and not an ignorant racist that listened to WIP. Who knew?

I hope it's another 86 years

The following is the complete text of an e-mail from my friend Vinnie:

Hey, have you read this yet? This is exactly how I feel about the Red Sox.

Judging from this article, Vin, you and I aren't the only ones.

National disaster?

The Phils looked absolutely average in their Opening Day win at Citizens Bank Park on Monday over the Expos-turned-Nationals, and somehow managed to do exactly the same in their two losses on Wednesday and Thursday. The starting pitchers -- Jon Lieber, Brett Myers, and Randy Wolf -- looked above average, while the bullpen looks early on like ti could use some work. Pat Burrell appears to have fully recovered from his wrist injury -- batting .500 with a home run and 6 RBIs through the first three games. Bobby Abreu looks like Bobby Abreu -- a stud offensively, but lazy as hell in the field. Phillies management looks as inept as ever by completely bungling the Chase Utley-Placido Polanco situation.

With 159 games left to play, nothing is clear at this point. I suppose we just need to put our faith in Charlie "The Anti-Bowa" Manuel and hope that he can somehow find a way to turn around the fortunes a franchise that has set the record for professional futility.

The Good Life

This morning was a case of bad news, good news.

Are there many things worse than waking up to an alarm clock on a day off? Fortunately today's alarm was for a great reason.

A month from Sunday, Weezer is playing The Electric Factory in support of their new album "Make Believe," and the tickets went on sale at 10. The Factory only holds around 2000 people and I was able to snag two tickets online.

By the way, I'd like to send a big thank you to Ticketmaster for the extra fees and surcharges that increased the price of the tickets from $29 to around $40.
